Provide predefined data sources when editing templates in the Editor
The Data Source feature allows you to provide predefined data sources for the entire Account, helping users apply consistent values quickly when editing templates in the Editor.
What is a Data Source?
Data Sources provide predefined values to:
Use in Text Layers with dropdown type.
Use in Image Layers with dropdown type.
👉 This allows:
Users to select values from a predefined list, avoiding manual entry errors.
Consistent values across all templates in the Account.
⚠️ User Right Required: User must have the permission: “Is Client Admin - User can manage the Client Profile”.
How to add a Data Source
🔹 Step 1: Navigate to Template Settings
Go to Account Settings -> Settings tab -> Template Settings

🔹 Step 2: Add Data Source
Click “Add Data Source” to create a new data source.
Enter the following information
Data Source Name: to identify it easily when using in templates.
Values: list of values you want to provide for the dropdown.
You can create multiple data sources as needed (e.g., branch locations, brand names, brand guideline colors, contact lists, etc.).

How to use Data Sources in the Editor
When editing a Template:
🔹 Step 1: Open the Template in the HIVO Editor
Select the template you wish to modify.
🔹 Step 2: Select the data input Type (Data Source)
Go to Design tab -> For Text Layers or Image Layers -> Select Type: Data Source.
When you click on a Text Layer or Image Layer that is linked to a Data Source, instead of a regular input field, you'll see a dropdown menu.
This list will display all the values defined in the relevant Data Source.

🔹 Step 3: Select the desired value
Simply click the dropdown arrow and choose the appropriate value from the list.
The content of the text or image layer will automatically update with your selected value.
