Guides users through the process of creating a new brand guideline, including how to name the guideline, attach a banner and thumbnail, and add relevant documents. It ensures your brand identity is clearly defined and visually consistent across all users and platforms.
⚠️ User Right Required: You must have the “Can Create Brand Guidelines” permission to perform this action.
Click the "Tags" icon in the left navigation bar.
The Branding interface will display a list of all existing Brand Guidelines.
Click to "Add Brand Guidelines" button to start create new Brand Guideline and enter brand guideline name.
Style Guide Name: Set the name of your brand guideline.
Banner Image
The banner appears at the top of the guideline page; a minimum aspect ratio of 3.5:1 is recommended.

Image specifications required: JPG, JPEG, PNG
Thumbnail Preview
This image represents the guideline in the list view and preview areas.

⚠️ Note: The banner image, thumbnail bypasses asset permission checks and will be visible to anyone with access to the guideline.
Attached Document: Optionally, attach a document - brand related documents or instructions on how to use the brand (e.g., PDF).
Click “Add Sections” to insert a new component into the guideline.
You can add various types of sections such as image, font, description, etc.
Describe the section and select the corresponding asset.
The “Hide in Asset Editor” option can be enabled to hide the section from view within the Asset Editor interface.
For “Font” sections, fonts can be:
Linked from HIVO font assets
Linked via direct URL (e.g., Google Fonts)
Images added to the guideline:
Will be visible to all users with access to the guideline, even if they don’t have permission to view the original asset.
All versions of the image asset will also be visible.
In the Settings Brand Guidelines, you can configure the following:
In the Settings section, assign viewing or editing rights to specific user groups.
Example: assign “Can View Account Branding” or “Can Edit Account Branding” permissions.
When viewing a guideline, you can click the settings button at the top to set the sharing access level. There are 3 share options to choose from:
Not Shared
No link is generated; only internal users with proper permissions can view.
Private
A secret link is created. Anyone with the link can view. If changed to Not Shared/Public, the private link becomes invalid.
Public
A public link is generated. If previously changed to Not Shared and later reset to Public, the original link becomes active again (the URL will be the same).
📌 Note: Regardless of share level, internal users with “Can View Account Branding” rights can always access the guideline.
When you install Brand Guideline in HIVO app, there will be an important option "Make default brand in image editor". When you enable this toggle, the Brand Guideline you are installing will be applied by default in the Image Editor.
In the Settings, enable "Use New Display" to switch to the new layout for viewing the guideline.
You can also enable "Hide Tabs" to hide navigation tabs and simplify the viewing interface.
