# Move Folder

Flexibly change the location of folders and assets inside

The Move Folder feature allows you to flexibly change the location of folders and documents inside, helping you organize your library effectively.

For example: You have a folder called "Project A" that contains many images and documents. You want to move all the images in this folder to a separate folder called "Project A Images" without affecting the "Project A" folder structure.

👉 Follow the instructions below to move folders in HIVO.

{% @howdygo/embed url="<https://app.howdygo.com/share/1223b74e-2785-49b1-807c-2a85cd2785cb>" %}

1. **Access the folder management tool:** Click the down arrow on the folder thumbnail in the Library.
2. **Select the Move Folder tool:** In the list of options that appears, select Move Folder.
3. **Delete old folder path:** Delete the current path of the folder.
4. **Select new folder path:** Enter or select the path to the new location where you want to move the folder.
5. **Customize how folders are moved**: have 2 options when moving folders by toggling the toggle button:

* **Turn OFF toggle**: If you want to move the entire folder, the folder structure, and all the assets inside to the new location, make sure the toggle is off. **This is the default option.**
* **Turn ON toggle**: If you only want to move the assets inside the folder to the new location, keeping the original folder structure, turn on the toggle. This option is useful when you want to separate assets from a large folder without affecting the original folder structure.

6. Click **Submit** to complete the folder move operation.

{% hint style="info" %}
When you move a folder that has specific permissions set for users and groups, the permissions will not be automatically moved.
{% endhint %}

With the Move Folder feature, you can easily reorganize your library, creating an efficient and professional file management system.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://support.hivo.co/library/folder-management-tools/move-folder.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
