Metadata in HIVO allows you to attach optional additional information to Assets, providing more detailed descriptions that go beyond basic attributes like Name, Tag, or Collection.
Structure: Metadata consists of key-value pairs (e.g., Author: John Doe).
Searchability: You can use Metadata to search for Assets in HIVO's library search.
Metadata can be viewed in both the Asset Preview and the Asset Detail page.
Note: Metadata is only displayed if it has been filled in.
Navigate to the Asset Details Page:
Click on the Metadata section.
Add Metadata:
Use the 'Add Entry' button to select from default metadata fields that are configured in the account.
Use the 'Custom Entry' button to input any custom desired metadata field and information.
Save Changes:
Click 'Submit' to save your changes.
Admin accounts can configure the account to ensure Assets are downloaded with HIVO metadata (this is metadata that gets created and added when assets are in HIVO, as opposed to metadata that exists on the Assets before they are uploaded. eg. data generated from a camera or editing software). If this option is selected this will download a version of the Asset with some of it's metadata replaced with metadata values created in HIVO.
In the Client Profile, go to Settings -> Upload/Download Settings -> Toggle 'Users can download Assets with HIVO metadata' ON:
Admin accounts can set up warnings for users when downloading Assets that contain specific metadata fields, such as copyright, description, or license information. When a user goes to download an asset that has one of these fields, a warning dialogue will pop up asking the user to confirm and accept the relevant metadata fields:
In the Client Profile, go to Settings -> Upload/Download Settings -> Toggle 'Warn Users before downloading Assets ON'.
Then enter the metadata field names that you would like to display a warning for when there is an entry in one of the fields or leave blank to use the default fields (copyright / license / usage):
