# Asana

Boost your team's efficiency by integrating your HIVO design asset library directly into Asana. With the HIVO Connector, you can search, attach, and manage design assets right within your task interface without switching between applications.

### 1. Install & Login HIVO Connector in Asana

1. Go to the **Desired Project** **→ Customize → Apps.** Then, select the **"Add"** button to begin the process of adding a new app.

2. Search for '**HIVO**' in the app search bar, select '**HIVO Connector**' from the search results, and then click '**Add to project**'.&#x20;

3. Follow the **login instructions and grant required permissions when prompted**. You’ll see a confirmation message once the connection is successful.

### 2. Permissions required by HIVO when connecting Asana

When connecting HIVO Connector to Asana, you’ll be asked to grant access permissions. HIVO Connector requires access to ensure assets can be attached, managed, and approved directly within your tasks - without switching between tools, while remaining fully compliant with [**HIVO’s Privacy Policy.**](https://hivo.co/privacy-policy)

#### **1. Access projects and tasks**

* **Basic project information (View only)**\
  → To identify where tasks belong
* **Task information (View, create, and modify)**\
  → To attach assets and update task-related data

#### **2. Access information across your Asana workspace**

* **Attachments (View, create, modify, delete)**\
  → To add and manage HIVO assets in tasks
* **User profiles (View only)**\
  → To display user-related information (e.g., assignees)
* **Notifications (View, create, modify, delete)**\
  → To support activity updates and workflows
* **Workspace information (View only)**\
  → To ensure proper integration within your workspace

#### **3. Access identity via OpenID Connect**

* **Basic authentication (View only)**
* **Email address (View only)**
* **Profile information (View only)**

→ Used to securely identify your account and connect it with HIVO

#### What HIVO does NOT do

HIVO Connector only requests the minimum permissions required to function properly.

* Does **not** access or modify data outside of actions you perform
* Does **not** delete or change tasks/assets without your intent
* Does **not** share your data with third parties
* Does **not** access unnecessary information beyond what is required

If you don’t grant permissions, the integration won’t be able to attach or manage assets in your tasks.

### 2.1 Attach assets from Asana

The HIVO Connector allows you to attach design assets directly from your HIVO library to Asana tasks without needing to switch between browser tabs or different applications.

#### 🔹 Steps to Follow:

1. **Open the task:** Navigate to the specific Asana task where you wish to attach an asset.
2. **Locate the Apps section:** Scroll down to the Apps section within the task details panel.
3. **Launch HIVO:** Click on HIVO Connector.

4. **Select your Asset & Approval template (optional):**

* **Asset:** Search for the desired file using keywords (asset name) and select the asset you wish to attach.

* **Approval Template (Optional):** Utilize the Approval Templates feature to approve the attached asset if required. The asset will be attached to the task and synced with HIVO.

### 2.2 Attach tasks from HIVO

Streamline your workflow and manage design assets efficiently by connecting HIVO directly to Asana. This guide will help you set up the connection and attach assets to the correct tasks within HIVO.

#### 🔹 Step 1: Connect your account

1. **Access settings:** Click on your avatar in the upper right corner and select Profile.

2. **Connect Asana:** Under the External accounts section, find and click the Asana button.

3. **Authenticate:** Log in to your Asana account and grant Authorize access to HIVO.

Your Asana account will appear in the connected accounts list.

#### 🔹 Step 2: Attach a task to an asset

1. **Go to asset details:** Select the asset you want to attach and open the Related tab.

2. **Switch linking:** In the **Task section**, click on the pencil icon. Then, click on the **Asana tab.**
3. Select the task location:

* **Select Workspace:** Choose your Asana workspace.
* **Select Project:** Choose the specific project in Asana where you want to attach the task.
* **Select Task:** Search for and select the specific task you wish to link.

Then, click **Submi**t to confirm linking the asset to the task in Asana.&#x20;

👉 Note: You can click directly on the asset name to return to the HIVO interface to perform more advanced management and approval operations.
