# Global Rights

## What are Global Rights

Global Rights helps you manage and set global user rights to all users in the account on mass, saving the need to set user rights at a group or user level if you want common user rights across all who login to your HIVO acccount.

**Note:** This setting is only for setting default global user rights. To set user rights for a particular [User Profile](/client-profile/users/edit-user-rights.md) or [User Group](/client-profile/groups.md), please access the user rights page via those features.

**Setting up "Global Rights" in HIVO will help:**

*Make it easy to quickly assign blanket and global user rights and permissions to all users in the account when it is appropriate that every user has a common set of rights and permissions turned on.*
{% endhint %}

## How to use Global Settings

⚠️ **User Right Required:** User must have the permission: **“Is Client Admin - User can manage the Client Profile”**

#### 🔹 Step 1: Navigate to Global Settings

* Go to: **Client Profile -> Setting tab -> Global Rights**

1. Select **user classification and customize user rights** accordingly.

HIVO categorizes users into three groups based on their assigned permissions: Light Users, Regular Users, and Heavy Users [(with reference to the “List of User Rights”):](https://support.hivo.co/client-profile/users/list-of-user-rights)

| The Right grants weak permissions. | The Right grants regular permissions. | The Right grants strong permissions. |
| Users typically require basic access for viewing, uploading, and downloading assets and collections. | Users often require more than basic access and can update assets, collections, metadata, and utilize other features beyond basic viewing and downloading. | Users typically require full platform access and have the ability to add new users, define user roles, and manage access to platform features. |
|
For example:

Company Staff (limited access)

Suppliers (viewing assets)

Creative Agencies (viewing/downloading assets)

Freelancers (limited project access)

Media Outlets (viewing assets for publication)

|
For example:

Company Staff (more involved users)

Creative Agencies/Suppliers (needing to update assets/collections)

       |
For example:

HIVO Account Administrators

Company Staff (Marketing/Communications departments) requiring full access and user management

|

Then, **save changes** so this takes effect for future uploaded Assets.

For example, belonging to the same organization but two user accounts with different permissions will have different access rights to assets, such as the right to view sensitive assets, the authorized account will be able to view it and the unlicensed account permissions will not be able to view it.

You can learn more here to install and effectively use Users, including: User Types, List of User Rights and User Profile. [You can read more about Users here.](https://support.hivo.co/client-profile/users)

**Note:** Understanding these user groups helps you assign appropriate permissions within your HIVO account, ensuring users can perform their tasks effectively while maintaining data security.
